What are the responsibilities and job description for the Surgical Tech position at Slocum Orthopedics?
- Ensures the proper functioning of equipment prior to use
- Assists, as needed, with transporting patient to and from the operating room
- Understands standard concepts, practices and procedures within the surgical technologist field (i.e. setting-up and maintaining a sterile field)
- Anticipates and responds to surgical requirements for all procedures
- Aids in the safe transfer of the patient from the Operating table to the recovery gurney.
- Follows OSHA guidelines when handling blood or bodily fluids
- Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested
- Strictly maintains patient confidentiality and follows HIPAA rules and regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Must be a graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program. Must be a Certified Surgical Technologist, or possess the experience required by the state of Oregon. Must have and maintain competency in BLS as demonstrated by an AHA BLS card.
The Slocum ASC is a fast-paced and diverse operating room environment. Surgical Technologists at Slocum should be comfortable working as a valued members of a high functioning interdisciplinary team.
