The Drywall & Framing Estimator prepares accurate, competitive estimates for union and public works construction projects, including drywall, metal framing, insulation, and firestopping. This role supports bidding, preconstruction planning, and project handoff while ensuring compliance with prevailing wage and public agency requirements.
Responsibilities
- Perform quantity takeoffs for drywall, framing, insulation, and related scopes
- Review plans, specifications, addenda, and RFIs
- Develop detailed cost estimates, including union labor, equipment, materials, and waste
- Apply prevailing wage rates, crew compositions, and productivity assumptions
- Solicit vendor and supplier pricing and validate lead times
- Prepare proposals, scope letters, alternates, and unit pricing
- Support preconstruction handoff and budget validation
- Track estimate vs. actual costs and refine labor benchmarks
Required Qualifications
- 3–7 years of drywall and framing estimating experience
- Union construction and prevailing wage experience
- Commercial, public works, or multi-family background
- Proficiency with estimating software (Bluebeam, OST, PlanSwift, Procore)
- Strong plan-reading and scope analysis skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Field or project management experience
- Affordable housing or government-funded projects
- Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills
