Job Summary
Slidell Eye Specialists is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our growing ophthalmology practice.
This role is ideal for candidates with experience in ophthalmology, optometry, or medical assisting who are looking for a stable, team-oriented environment with a consistent daytime schedule.
Responsibilities
- Obtain patient histories (medical, ocular, medications, chief complaint)
- Perform ophthalmic pre-testing and workups
- Prepare patients for physician examinations
- Maintain exam rooms, equipment, and supplies
- Assist with patient flow to ensure efficient clinic operations
- Follow all HIPAA and patient confidentiality guidelines
Occasional travel to Covington, LA (1–2 days/week)
Requirements
- Experience in ophthalmology, optometry, or medical assisting preferred
- Strong communication and patient care skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical setting
- Dependable, professional, and team-oriented
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA)
- JCAHPO-approved training
- AAO coursework
