Role Description: The Sr. Design & Manufacturing Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Canton, MI. This role is responsible for leading the design and optimization of electromechanical components and systems for light-vehicle electrification, ensuring readiness for high-volume manufacturing. Day-to-day tasks include developing 3D models and detailed drawings, selecting materials and processes, and performing design reviews to ensure compliance with performance, cost, and safety targets. The engineer will define and refine manufacturing workflows, support line setup, troubleshoot production issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. This position collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, including product engineering, quality, supply chain, and external suppliers, to bring electrified vehicle solutions from concept through production launch.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong skills in Mechanical Engineering and Product Design to create robust, manufacturable systems and components.
- Candidates should possess skills in Design Engineering, with a focus on 3D modeling, detailed drawings, tolerance analysis, and design validation.
- Candidates should possess skills in Manufacturing Engineering and Manufacturing Processes to develop, optimize, and support production lines and tooling.
- Relevant experience in automotive or electric vehicle systems, including powertrain components, is highly beneficial.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or an Electrical Engineering discipline, or equivalent practical experience, is preferred.
- Proficiency with CAD software and knowledge of DFM/DFA principles are beneficial.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, collaboration skills, and the capacity to work effectively in an on-site environment are expected.
