Medical Records Analyst

SLG is responsible for servicing life insurance policies purchased by our parent company as investments. The Medical Records Analyst plays an important role in the ongoing monitoring and administration of these policies, combining medical-records analysis, investigative research, insurance servicing, and ongoing communication with insureds, healthcare providers, insurance companies, and other third parties.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, comfortable conducting research and making frequent follow-up calls, and able to manage sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.

Responsibilities

• Contact insureds and designated contacts by phone and mail on a quarterly basis to maintain current contact and health information.
• Request, track, and follow up on medical records from physicians, hospitals, and other healthcare providers on a quarterly or semi-annual basis.
• Order and review prescription and laboratory reports, including RX and LabCorp reports, on a quarterly or semi-annual basis.
• Request and follow up on documents and information from insureds, designated contacts, healthcare providers, and other third parties.
• Review medical and third-party information to identify changes in health status that may warrant updated life expectancy underwriting.
• Coordinate with third parties to request, obtain, and follow up on life expectancy underwriting reports.
• Review third-party reports and other available information to monitor the health and status of insureds and identify material changes.
• Conduct periodic investigative research, including online and public-record searches and obituary searches, to help verify the ongoing status of insureds and keep policy records current.
• Identify and process claims in a timely and accurate manner, coordinating with government vital records departments, families or designated contacts, and insurance companies.
• Review requests and action items from insurance companies and insureds, resolve discrepancies, and compare current information with historical records.
• Scan, organize, and maintain correspondence and documentation in electronic files.
• Review insured tracking reports weekly to ensure servicing requirements and time standards are being met.
• Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling medical, financial, and other sensitive information.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant work experience in life insurance, healthcare, legal services, or a related field.
• Professional and confident phone presence with strong communication skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
• Strong research and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify discrepancies and determine appropriate next steps.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and follow-up activities simultaneously.
• Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
• Comfortable working with confidential and sensitive information.
• Strong persistence and follow-through when working with healthcare providers, government agencies, insurance companies, and other third parties.

Pay: $58,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
