Overview
We are seeking a Shop Assistant to join our team at our musical instrument repair shop. The ideal candidate is well-organized, flexible, a problem solver, and willing to assist wherever needed.
Responsibilities
- Efficiently learning and performing aspects of the repair department as needed. Primary tasks include the following:
- Disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly of brass and woodwind instruments.
- Minor instrument service work such as polishing brass mouthpieces, replacing tenon and neck corks on woodwind instruments.
- Data entry of stock, customer, and school-owned instrument repairs, polishing of said instruments and cleaning of cases.
- Cleaning and upkeep of shop and store
- Helping customers with instrument rentals/sales, accessory sales, repair check ins/purchases.
- Answering inbound customer phone calls, assisting customers with some retail needs.
- Driving to local schools to deliver and pick up instruments and accessories, having brief “customer support” discussions with directors at these schools (possible, but not 100% required component of this role)
- Observing health and safety procedures.
- Take feedback, instruction, and direction from repair technicians.
Qualifications
- Driver's license.
- Good physical strength and hand-eye coordination required.
- Good time management, critical, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- A growth mindset and passion for learning.-
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools effectively
- Strong mechanical knowledge to assist in assembly tasks is a plus
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new processes

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30.0 – 40.0 per week
