What are the responsibilities and job description for the MIG Welder position at SLB?
The Manufacturing Welder located in Ville Platte, La is responsible for weld preparation, welding, and weld finishing operations to manufacture products according to drawings, specifications, and other forms of instruction.
- Weld components in flat, vertical, horizontal, or overhead positions.
- Perform Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) and Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) with precision and consistency.
- Weld and assemble valves and flanges, ensuring proper alignment, fit, and structural integrity.
- Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, and grind component parts.
- Detect faulty operation of equipment and materials.
- Examine work for defects and ensure quality standards are met.
- Operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade.
- Use the guiding principles and tools of the Manufacturing System to drive continuous improvement, wherever applicable.
- Must be able to pass a 1G open root pipe test with GMAW root and FCAW fill and cap.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Preference for one-year certificate from technical school or college.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a related field.
- Demonstrated proficiency in GMAW (MIG) and FCAW (flux core) welding techniques.
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work and reside in the United States without sponsorship.
