Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Head Librarian based in Slatington, PA. The Head Librarian will oversee daily library operations, including managing library collections, developing and implementing library policies, supervising staff, and ensuring excellent customer service. The individual will be responsible for maintaining and organizing library resources, training staff in library systems, providing library instruction to the public, and staying updated with advancements in library science and metadata management. Additionally, the Head Librarian will liaise with community members and organizations to promote library programs and services.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Library Services, including cataloging, classification, and circulation tasks
• Solid background in Library Science and understanding of current trends and practices in the field
• Knowledge of Metadata and systems that enhance resource discovery and access
• Experience in Library Management, including staff supervision, policy development, and budget oversight
• Skills in Library Instruction and creating educational programs for a diverse audience
• Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
• Bachelor's degree in Library Science or a related field, with relevant certifications preferred
• Familiarity with library technologies and digital resource management systems
• Commitment to community engagement and supporting diverse patron needs
