What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Teacher position at Slater Schools?
Qualifications and responsibilities:
- Must possess a valid Missouri Professional Teacher and/or Missouri Substitute Teacher Certificate from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). You can apply for the substitute certificate through the DESE Website at dese.mo.gov. (Exception: If you are a teacher certified in the state of Missouri you do not need a substitute certificate)
- Background/Fingerprint check is required.
- Great organizational skills
- Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal)
- Flexibility and ability to work as a team with other teachers
- Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to the changing needs of students, teachers, parents, and school staff.
Essential Functions/Job Duties:
- Maintaining a clean and organized classroom environment
- Developing and maintaining positive student, teacher, staff and parent relationships
- Maintaining a high level of energy throughout the entire school day
- Leading and facilitating lessons plans and activities for students
- Encouraging and modeling positive and appropriate classroom behavior
- Maintaining a positive attitude and safe welcoming classroom environment
