We are seeking a Wastewater Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will perform a variety of tasks in the operation and maintenance of water treatment systems. Primary focus will be on the H&S of the project and a complete focus on water quality. Contribute to the success of our program with efficient preventive maintenance, establishing and maintaining effective sample procedures of plant operations and effluent, and providing consistent monitoring and evaluation of process parameters to ensure the correct operational tasks are timely implemented.
Help identify, diagnose and address operating problems, make process control adjustments, direct and perform necessary corrective actions. Prepare reports, collect samples, perform laboratory testing, determine proper chemical flow rates, maintain shift logs, complete round sheets and perform other duties as required. Support on call and emergency needs as well as other facility coverage needs. Ability to work variable shifts as assigned. Ensure the safety, health and well-being of you and your team.

Essential Job Functions:
- Performs water sample testing to analyze and optimize plant efficiency.
- Maintains accurate and complete records and logs of all plant operations.
- Calibrates the various mechanical, electrical and electronic equipment associated with the plant.
- Diagnoses and repairs various electric pumps, drive units, reducers, pneumatic valves, solenoid valves associated with plant operation.
- Quickly and clearly communicates any malfunctions or operational problems.
- Understands the mechanical and scientific principles of each piece of equipment and a pro-active ability to troubleshoot equipment.
- Must have a general understanding of total suspended solids (TSS), turbidity, pH, sedimentation, general chemistry reactions and coagulation in order to determine and perform operational adjustments.
- Understanding and commitment to safety.
- Effectively works in a team environment leading and prioritizing daily tasks and operations.
- Works with water treatment chemicals
- Other duties as assigned/requested.
License/Certification:
- Alabama Wastewater Operator License 4 (Required)
Qualifications:
- Must hold a Class/Level 3 or 4 wastewater treatment certificate in the State of Alabama (Class/Level 3/4).
- Must possess exceptional organization and English communication skills
- Knowledge of nomenclature and conventional symbols of structural, mechanical and engineering drawings
- Ability to read and interpret operation and maintenance manuals and equipment drawings
- Ability to make mathematical calculations related to the work
- Ability to understand and carry out detailed technical instructions
- Ability to maintain records and drawings relative to the work
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with all department personnel
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Valid driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle record.
