Project Engineer

This position is responsible to perform all of the duties as they relate to assisting the PM’s, Project Team, and Subcontractors in coordinating all operations to ensure successful projects.

The person in this position must possess the knowledge and communication skills to assist the Project Manager in leading and managing Commercial Construction Projects including:

1. Assist the Project Managers in managing all Project Team personnel.
2. Able to assist with a Master Project Schedule – developing, updating, and assisting the project team in achieving the deadlines set forth in the project schedule using Microsoft Project.
3. Conducts themselves as a team member with honesty, integrity, reliability and teamwork. A problem solver with a great “work ethic”. Willing and able to mentor team members.
4. A positive minded motivator and communicator. Flexible, collaborative, organized, punctual.
5. A key Point of Contact with the Client, Architects, Engineers and Subcontractors.
6. Must have at least 1-2 years of related experience for a commercial general contractor in a Project Engineer or similar position. Familiar with all aspects of project management including: estimating projects, procurement, reading blueprints and specifications, writing subcontract scopes of work, reviewing shop drawings and submittals, change order management, cost management, scheduling, and close out.
7. A bachelor's degree in construction management – or – the equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.

Specifically, the Project Engineer is required to have competency with the following:

1. Computer skills to include Word, Excel, Outlook, Bluebeam, Procore, and Microsoft Project scheduling applications. 
2. Responsible for pre-construction site survey and documentation of existing conditions.
3. Responsible for creation of submittal schedule and log including review and tracking.
4. Responsible for assisting the Project Administrator with project close-out and facilities training coordination, punch list creation/completion, and final turn-over.
5. Strong Estimating skills. Experience with the Design Build process is a plus.
6. Monitors and prioritizes tasks to ensure the timely completion of assigned tasks.
7. Communicates clearly to team members and Project Managers about work loads and completion deadlines as they are assigned.
8. Helps to coordinate and schedule all necessary Pre-Install meetings for key quality elements on each project to ensure a first-class end result.
9. Works closely with the Project Superintendent to ensure that all submittals, RFI’s and onsite paperwork and plan updating (slip-sheeting) is current, organized and up to date.
10. Works with the Project Manager to understand the review and processing of the monthly subcontractor and owner billings in collaboration with the Accounting team.
11. Promotes and develops new business and client relationships.
12. Highly values training, expertise, and ongoing, continual improvement.
13. Ability to write RFI’s of multi-trade type Subcontractor questions and work with the Project Managers to process them through the proper A&E team members for answers and closure on issues.
14. Assists the Project Manager in running the weekly Owner/Architect meetings to ensure a high level of communication and coordination with the project teams.
15. Creates meeting minutes and prepares all standard meeting deliverables.
16. Works with the Project Manager to create the trade scopes of work for subcontracts.
17. Team Member in preconstruction and estimating efforts and meets deadlines. Assists in the review and creation of project bid schedules, budgets, and site logistics planning.
18. Strong communication skills. Plays an integral role in communication and problem solving in coordination with subcontractors, architects, clients, Superintendents, etc.
