Job Title: Special Projects Technician
Reports To: City Manager
The Special Projects Technician is a skilled cleaning professional specializing in floor care, window cleaning, and detailed project work. This position plays a key role in maintaining and restoring client facilities to Slate’s high-quality standards. The ideal candidate has hands-on floor tech experience, including working with various flooring materials and using specialized equipment for stripping, waxing, and polishing.
Technicians perform one-time or recurring projects such as deep cleans, floor refinishing, post-construction cleaning, and window care, often working independently or as part of a special projects crew.
Key Responsibilities
Perform advanced cleaning and maintenance projects, including:
- Floor stripping, waxing, burnishing, and buffing (VCT, terrazzo, tile, hardwood, etc.)
- Carpet extraction, shampooing, and spot removal
- Interior and exterior window cleaning
- Pressure washing and glass restoration
- Deep cleaning and detailing of restrooms, kitchens, and fixtures
- Safely operate and maintain floor care equipment (auto scrubbers, buffers, extractors, vacuums, ladders, etc.)
- Follow detailed work orders and schedules through Jobber or ServiceChannel.
- Upload before-and-after photos and track supply usage after each project.
- Communicate clearly with supervisors and support team regarding project progress, completion, or issues.
- Maintain equipment in clean and functional condition; report any repairs or malfunctions.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including PPE use and site-specific requirements.
- Represent Slate with professionalism and pride in all client interactions.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Minimum 1–2 years of floor tech experience required.
- Strong knowledge of floor care methods, equipment, and products.
- Experience with window cleaning, carpet extraction, or specialty cleaning preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, bend, reach, and stand for extended periods.
- Valid driver’s license or reliable transportation to various job sites.
- High attention to detail and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision or as part of a team.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
Schedule
- Flexible hours projects may occur early mornings, evenings, or weekends, depending on client and building access needs.
Work Environment
- Indoor and outdoor environments, including commercial, retail, or residential properties.
- May require use of ladders, lifts, or other specialized equipment for elevated or large-scale projects.
