What are the responsibilities and job description for the Photo Representative - Full Time (New York) position at Slate Studios?
Build & Lead Our Artist Representation Division
Company Overview:
We are an established creative production company based in New York City, operating at the intersection of fashion, beauty, luxury, lifestyle, and cultural storytelling. Known for high-caliber content, exceptional creative talent, and seamless production execution, we partner with leading global brands, emerging designers, and top-tier creative teams.
As we expand our capabilities, we are building a dedicated Artist Representation unit focused on representing and cultivating world-class talent across photography, motion, creative direction, and post-production. We are seeking an experienced, highly-connected Photo Rep to join us and play a foundational role in shaping this new division.
Position Overview:
The ideal candidate is a true industry player — someone deeply embedded in the creative, fashion, and advertising worlds, with proven relationships across brands, agencies, editorial teams, and production environments. You understand the creative landscape, know how to strategically position and champion artists, and have a track record of booking high-value shoots and building long-term client relationships.
This role requires someone who thrives in both business development and talent management, and who is excited to help build a rep division from the ground up.
Responsibilities:
Cultivate and manage relationships with key clients, agencies, creative directors, and producers across fashion, beauty, lifestyle, and luxury.
Represent and advocate for our artist roster — secure campaigns, editorials, branded content, motion work, and high-value creative opportunities.
Identify, evaluate, and onboard new talent aligned with our aesthetic and strategic vision.
Drive business development strategy, pricing negotiations, and deal structuring to maximize opportunity and long-term value.
Regular circulation of talent portfolios, creative decks, newsletters, and targeted outreach.
Oversee artist calendars, bookings, hold requests, and client communication.
Provide career strategy guidance to talent — positioning, brand strategy, and market development.
Work closely with our production and post-production teams to ensure flawless execution of booked projects.
Maintain CRM notes, pipelines, and business reporting.
Represent the company and roster at industry events, shows, and networking engagements.
Requirements:
Minimum 3–5 years experience as a Photo Rep / Agent or senior artist-management role within a creative agency, editorial environment, or production company.
Deep network across fashion, beauty, luxury, editorial, and advertising communities.
Demonstrated ability to secure bookings and grow artist revenue.
Proven track record building or scaling an artist roster.
Understanding of talent positioning, creative trends, and commercial viability.
Strong negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
Entrepreneurial mindset — execution-focused, resourceful, scrappy when needed.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive in follow-through.
Based in New York with regular in-person presence (office/studio industry events).
What We Offer:
Opportunity to shape and lead a new representation division
Competitive salary performance-based commission structure
Strong production and creative infrastructure behind you
Ability to help curate and build a standout artist roster
A creative, ambitious, and forward-thinking company culture
