Slate is seeking a dynamic, experienced Manufacturing Quality Engineer specializing in General Assembly for Chassis and Propulsion systems. The ideal candidate will leverage advanced quality engineering skills and tools to deliver the highest quality chassis and propulsion assemblies. Collaboration with internal and external partners to exceed customer expectations is essential.
| WHAT YOU GET TO DO:
- Develop and implement robust quality assurance and control processes for chassis and propulsion system assembly.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality requirements for chassis and propulsion are integrated into manufacturing processes.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions to resolve technical and process quality issues related to chassis and propulsion.
- Perform regular audits and inspections of chassis and propulsion assembly lines, ensuring adherence to quality standards and specifications for new vehicle launches.
- Work closely with suppliers, through the supplier quality team, to establish and monitor quality expectations for incoming chassis and propulsion components.
- Develop and maintain quality documentation, including control plans, inspection procedures, and quality manuals for chassis and propulsion systems.
- Minimize risk using appropriate risk assessment tools and verify the robustness of detection and prevention systems for special characteristics in chassis and propulsion.
- Support the development and maintenance of FMEAs and control plans using APQP methodologies for chassis and propulsion.
- Define quality processes and technical standards in cooperation with development, product management, and manufacturing teams to ensure product quality.
- Support the planning and evaluation of chassis and propulsion system testing for quality and functional approvals.
- Provide quality support to technical and manufacturing teams and drive/support daily operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (mechanical, manufacturing, automotive, or related field) or equivalent experience.
- 10 years of experience in automotive engineering/manufacturing quality at an OEM or Tier 1 supplier, with a focus on chassis and propulsion systems.
- Proven track record of successful new program launches in chassis and propulsion, meeting timing and quality metrics.
- Experience with core documentation such as FMEAs and Control Plans for chassis and propulsion.
- Strong technical understanding of product/vehicle development and production, with emphasis on manufacturing plant launch for chassis and propulsion.
- Excellent product and process assessment, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills.
- In-depth knowledge of quality management, assurance, and control disciplines for chassis and propulsion systems.
- Strong teamwork, communication, assertiveness, and entrepreneurial thinking.
- Demonstrated ability to participate in and lead high-performing teams.
- Proficient in automotive quality tools and processes (e.g., AIAG, IATF 16949, MSA, SPC, APQP, PPAP).
- Highest level of integrity and ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced start-up environment.
