What are the responsibilities and job description for the Event Sales & Business Development position at Slate at Founders Tower?
Answering the phone and showing the room is the bare minimum.
That is not how you bring a landmark back to the city it belongs to.
Slate at Founders Tower is a private event venue on the twentieth floor of Founders Tower, the 1964 landmark on the Northwest Expressway. The Penthouse holds up to 200 guests under a full ring of windows. Scarlett holds up to 40. We have a private chef, a full bar, and our own rental inventory.
We are hiring one person to own wedding and corporate sales. This is the seat that faces outward.
WHAT YOU DO
- Build the vendor network from nothing: wedding planners, photographers, florists, DJs, officiants, HR teams, universities, nonprofits.
- Walk into rooms full of strangers and leave with names worth following up.
- Give the tour, write the proposal, follow up until you get a real answer, and ask for the signature.
- Bring ideas nobody asked for, then run them.
- Build and bring your own weekly numbers. Nobody chases you for a report.
WHAT YOU WILL HAVE
A chef, an operations team, a Director of Client Experience, and a Sales Associate, so you are selling instead of administering.
WHAT YOU WILL NOT HAVE
Anyone telling you what your week looks like. That part is yours. We are not going to hold your hand, and we are not interested in excuses.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Three or more years selling something with a contract and a close: venue, hotel, catering, hospitality, membership, media, or B2B services.
- A record you can talk about in numbers.
- The ability to sell a wedding.
- Proactive. You bring ideas nobody asked for, and you run them.
- Writing that does not embarrass us. CRM discipline (we run HoneyBook).
- Evenings and some weekends. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Helpful, not required: an existing network in Oklahoma City weddings or hospitality, and comfort cutting a decent reel on a phone.
COMPENSATION
Base salary of $65,000 – $85,000 depending on experience, plus a performance bonus tied directly to the business you book. Uncapped, paid monthly, and earned from the first dollar.
WHERE THIS GOES
This is a producer's seat today. If you build the book, it becomes the seat that leads our sales team, and we will put in writing exactly what that takes before you accept.
THE VENUE IS NOT FOR EVERYONE. NEITHER IS THIS POSITION.
We are interviewing immediately, this weekend included. If this is you, do not wait until Monday.
