Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop microbial strain construction strategies based on project objectives
- Execute molecular cloning and strain engineering workflows (Gibson Assembly, Golden Gate, CRISPR/Cas9)
- Perform high-throughput cloning, DNA preparation, and microbial transformations
- Troubleshoot experimental workflows and optimize strain build pipelines
- Maintain accurate documentation in ELN/LIMS systems (e.g., Benchling)
- Collaborate with scientists and engineers to improve SOPs, efficiency, and reproducibility
- B.S. or M.S. in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field
- 3 years of industrial experience in strain engineering or molecular biology
- Hands-on experience with microbial culturing (E. coli or S. cerevisiae)
- Strong background in molecular cloning and genome engineering techniques
- High attention to detail with strong experimental rigor and documentation practices
- Experience with lab automation (e.g., Tecan, Agilent Bravo, liquid handling systems)
- Exposure to non-model microbial systems
- Advanced use of Benchling or other ELN/LIMS platforms
- Familiarity with bioinformatics or molecular design tools (e.g., Geneious)
- Location: Mountain View, CA
- Position Type: 6 months contract
- Salary range approved: $75-80/hr depending on experience
