SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory is currently seeking a Property Control Assistant to join our Property Control Department in our salvage department reporting to the Property Control Manager. As a member of this team, you will play a crucial role in the collection of excess equipment and materials from various departments and across the SLAC campus. Identifying tags that need to be removed from each asset coming down to the Salvage department. Specific duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Warehouse Duties: Receive material coming into Salvage.Inspect paperwork and material to ensure it can be received.Reject any items that do not meet receiving criteria.Provide customers with receipt for all tagged equipment only after physical verification of each item received.
- Perform dismantling of electronic equipment: Perform all functionals of disassembly, shredding, and processing materials for recycling.
- Remove property control tags from servers, laptops, external hard drives, desktops, and other tagged assets. Ensure all barcodes and asset tags are removed before shipping items out as scrap material. Ensure that property is properly segregated into the appropriate commodity bins for recycling Collaborate with co-workers as needed.Palletize/containerize equipment for Excess accordingly.
- Excess Equipment Collection and Evaluation: Collect, receive, and accept excess equipment, furniture, and materials from various departments. Evaluate items and stage them for redistribution, shipping, or disposal.
- Surplus Property Management: Assist in managing surplus or nonessential property. Collect excess equipment and material from departments across campus. Separate saleable items from those designated for scrap or recycling. Document any discrepancies between collection reports and actual materials received.
- Process outgoing bins: Load contractor bins with recyclable material according to their specific commodity.Secure pictures, and all approvals for outgoing bins, coordinate (if needed with vendors, WM, RP,S/Sec., and management, etc.), badge in drivers, escort drivers to bin pickups, escort loads through the PGM/Portal Gate Monitoring services.
- Additional Tasks: Coordinate and Support customers with bins during excess property pickups. Respond to salvage-related requests when necessary. Perform electronic pickups as needed. Conduct walkthroughs at custodian sites. Perform general housekeeping in all yards (e.g., weed control, sweeping, metal debris removal, etc.).Ensure all work areas are clean after each task performed.Maintain both IR8 and LSY clean and organized at all times.Ensure all containers do not collect rainwater, tarp specific equipment that is temporarily stored outside.
- Deliver, Identify, Tag, and Perform Inventory of Equipment and Materials if Applicable: Responsible for identifying, tagging, and maintaining records of SLAC equipment and materials.Maintain records of bin locations and their temporary custodians.
- Input Online Transfers as needed. Process paperwork in a timely manner.
- Move, handle, and haul furniture and other items using hand trucks and forklifts if applicable.
- Assist with other related activities as assigned.
- Adhere and comply with all safety rules and guidelines.
- High School diploma or a combination of education and relevant experience in property control and warehouse support duties.
- Demonstrated experience in handling excess property disposal and management, including:
- Familiarity with various configurations of computers, servers, etc., for removing hard drives for shredding.
- Recognition of scrap metals and hazardous materials.
- Evaluation of excess items and separation of salable items.
- Determination of materials suitable for scrap or recycling, along with accurate reporting on collected materials.
- Proficient in using hand tools, pallet jacks, electric, and gas forklifts equipped with rotator forks.
- Capable of driving both electric and gas vehicles.
- Able to handle bulky, delicate materials effectively.
- Demonstrated strong communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Proficient in using MS Office Suite software.
- Effective interpersonal skills for providing excellent customer service.
- Must have a high degree of self-initiative and be able to work independently or as part of a team, depending on task.Utilizes time efficiently and demonstrates good work ethics.
- Must possess and maintain a valid California Class C Non-commercial Driver¿s License.
