What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Engineer position at SL Tennessee?
1. General Description
1) Develops and maintains quality methodologies, systems, and practices to meet the Customer’s needs.
2) Support quality engineering tasks throughout the life cycle of programs, including; contract review, product design reviews, develop inspection and test plans, manufacturing process approval, determine customer approval needs, support scrap and rework reduction efforts, and customer corrective action requests.
3) Provide support to Quality Manager assisting in day-to-day activities involving internal, supplier, and customer issues and/or concerns.
4) Direct and develop quality personnel as directed by, and in absence of Quality Manager.
2. Key Roles and Responsibilities
1) Support quality systems development and maintenance.
2) Facilitates corrective action and improvement activities.
3) Maintain/Support Fast Response & QCAR documentation and audit assignments.
4) Defect reduction activities with focus on root cause analysis
5) Lead continuous improvement activities.
6) Coordinate defect reduction activities.
7) Analyze failures and initiate corrective actions.
8) Act as Liaison with Customers.
9) Facilitate APQP activities.
10) Participate in risk reduction activities.
11) Compile and submit PPAP / ISIR packages as required by Customer.
12) Support new product launch.
13) 6S Initiatives.
14) Other duties as directed by Quality Manager.
3. Job Requirements
3-1. Work Experience
1) 3 years experience in an automotive manufacturing environment.
2) 3 year experience in a quality related background
3) Previous Quality Engineering / Management experience required in an automotive environment.
3-2. Education
1) Associates degree in a technical field related to Quality / Engineering.
2) Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
3-3. Knowledge Skills and Abilities
1) Excellent communication skills both written and verbally.
2) Thorough knowledge of Quality systems and procedures.
3) Must work well in a team environment and/or independently.
4) Thorough knowledge of APQP and Customer PPAP requirements.
5) Ability to lead and direct Quality initiatives.
