In this role your experience as a certified technician and ongoing knowledge transfer is crucial to the collaborative teamwork required for the delivery of carrier-grade service, network maintenance, and level of customer satisfaction. The field technician will use proactive communication tools and skill to perform assigned duties, ensuring adherence to company, safety and regulatory standards.

The field technician will use proactive communication tools and skill to perform assigned duties, ensuring adherence to company, safety and regulatory standards.
Duties
- Review and follow design and wiring protocols for the deployment of phone and data service including cabling from the Network Interface Device (NID as well as indoor and outdoor wiring of phone and data cables.
- Responsible for the installation and maintenance of wireless antennas of various manufactures, external conduit installation, drilling and deployment and management of structured cabling according to engineering specifications
- Leverage training to test and troubleshoot metallic and optical telecommunication services
- Plan network installations with Skywire standards training that includes customer orders, plans, manuals, and technical specifications; inventory access, supplies, materials, and tools, assess installation site; design/prepare an installation diagram.
- Use specialized training to establish voice and data networks by running, pulling, terminating, and splicing cables; install telecommunications equipment, routers, switches, multiplexors, and integrations; following company and industry standards.
- Verify service by testing circuits, accessing equipment, and alarms using tools, meters, laptops and other equipment requiring specialized training.
- Effective communication with network operations. Documents network by labeling and routing equipment and cables; recording configuration diagrams and specifications.
- Maintain network by troubleshooting and repair; testing network back-up procedures; updating documentation.
- Maintain customer rapport by listening to and resolving concerns; answering questions; and escalating/reporting to the supervisor and care team for follow-up.
- Maintain safe work environment by following codes, standards, and legal regulations as part of training.
- Keep supplies ready following inventory procedures.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
- Accessible to train and mentor other field techs.
- Enhance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Completion of select online course training for ongoing knowledge enhancement.
- Telecommunications Systems Engineering, Telecommunications Knowledge, Telecommunications Technologies, Technical Understanding, Functional and
- 3 to 5 years of experience troubleshooting/repairing telecommunication services both in the field (by customer’s premises) and/or in the central office.
- A clean driving record, and ability to maintain a clean driving record.
- Basic reading and writing skills at high school level or equivalent (i.e. GED), undergrad studies preferred.
- TL1 and SSH knowledge via a laptop, ability to configure and read a multimeter
- Understanding of Wireless Transmitters and RF standards
- Ability to construct physical mounting and rooftop structures in support of telecommunications equipment
- Understanding of electrical grounding requirements
The physical and sensory abilities required for this classification include:
- Ability to lift no more than 50 pounds independently and 150 pounds with assistance, following proper safety protocols, not to exceed 20% of the role.
- Coordination and equilibrium sufficient to climb a ladder and maintain balance while pulling cable with safety protocols followed.
- Ability to use various hand and power tools
- Ability to climb and carry ladders and work at heights on commercial and residential buildings with the use of a harness and proper safety equipment
- Ability to work in all climates, when safe to do so.
- Eyesight and sensory abilities sufficient to read computer screens and standard printouts, distinguish wire colors and schematic drawings, and maintain hearing, speech, sight, and physical dexterity required to function effectively in both office and field environments.
- Coordinated, skillful movements of fingers, hands and arms to operate a computer keyboard and tools; may require hand/eye coordination for semi-skilled movements, such as taking apart casings, installing parts and reconnecting computers.
- Strength and dexterity to crawl, kneel, crouch, or twist to reach/and or work with assigned systems.
- Manual and finger dexterity sufficient to work with hands in close tolerances and to work with extremely small electronic components.
- Strength, mobility and dexterity to use small hand and power tools as necessary and to climb or crawl to install equipment in areas of close tolerance, adhering to safety protocols.
