The Director of Logistics will manage a high-volume operation involving hundreds of weekly loads, a substantial annual budget, and a logistics model that blends private fleet oversight with a network of contract haulers. Responsibilities:
- Lead strategic planning and daily execution for all transportation and logistics activities across multiple business units.
- Oversee a large network of contract carriers; develop negotiation strategies, evaluate performance, and ensure safety, service, and cost goals are met.
- Develop and implement a logistics roadmap focused on network optimization, technology improvements, and process efficiency.
- Manage private fleet operations, ensuring equipment meets regulatory, safety, and operational standards.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development for a team of logistics professionals.
- Track KPIs, manage departmental budgeting, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Partner cross-functionally to resolve logistics challenges and align on production, supply chain, & operational priorities.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- 10 years of transportation/logistics leadership experience, preferably in a high-volume or complex operational environment.
- Experience managing fleet operations, carrier networks, and contract hauler relationships.
- Strong negotiation, vendor management, strategic planning, and budgeting skills.
- Proficiency with ERP, scheduling systems, TMS platforms, and logistics optimization tools.
Salary : $160,000 - $190,000
