The Maintenance Shop Helper is responsible for a wide variety of responsibilities including assisting aircraft mechanics on aircraft maintenance, perform basic facility maintenance and repairs, clean and organize work spaces and company buildings, clean and wash aircraft and performs non-mechanical tasks on aircraft like inflating tires, adding oil or fuel, or greasing parts.
Primary Responsibilities:
Assists Aircraft Mechanics in the servicing, repairing and overhauling aircraft and aircraft engines through the following tasks:
- Adjusting, removing and replacing parts
- Assists in towing and jacking aircraft
- Providing tools, parts or materials during repairs
- Assists with holding materials in place
- Assists with servicing and repairing aircraft prior to flight
- Performs non-mechanical tasks on aircraft like inflating tires, adding oil or fuel, or greasing parts
- Clean and wash aircraft
- Cleans and maintains work areas and support equipment
- Runs company errands
- Perform light ground keep duties and general building maintenance
- Other facility or maintenance related responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience in a maintenance role, or similar.
- Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and other systems.
- Knowledge of tools commonly used in a maintenance setting.
- Ability to read and understand technical manuals and drawings.
- Good physical condition and strength.
- Ability to work well in a team and follow instructions.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Technical skills to assist with the repair and maintenance of machinery, equipment, physical structures, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- Problem-solving skills to help troubleshoot and diagnose issues, and propose practical solutions.
- Physical strength and stamina, as the role may involve lifting heavy items, climbing, bending, or standing for extended periods.
- Basic knowledge of tools and equipment used in maintenance and repair work.
- Attention to detail to ensure tasks are completed accurately and safely.
- Good communication skills to effectively work within a team and report findings and progress to supervisors.
- Ability to follow safety procedures and regulations, ensuring a safe work environment.
- Time management skills to ensure tasks are completed within the stipulated timelines
Working Conditions
- The diversity of work conditions may range from an ambient office environment to an environment where inclement weather may subject individual to severe changes of temperature, wind, rain, etc.
- May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail.
- May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles or electrical shock hazards.
- Be physically able to perform mechanical duties on aircraft, including standing, squatting, sitting, walking, working with arms overhead for extended periods of time; able to pull, push, lift to 50 lbs.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour
