The Material Handler Heavy Lifting position requires continuous physical activity, including kneeling, squatting, reaching, bending, and lifting throughout the workday. Team members move, arrange, lift, and load storage boxes, bins, and totes ranging from 24 lbs to over 100 lbs, using both manual handling and hand carts.
All employees in the Material Handler Heavy Lifting role must wear protective footwear that meets ASTM F2413‐11 “Standard Specification for Performance Requirements for Protective (Safety) Toe Cap Footwear” with a slip‐resistant rating of “Better or Best.”
Compensation & Location
- Pay: $20.48/hr to start
- Increase: Hired on at $24/hr after 90 days
- Benefits: Full union benefits pension plan
- Location: Denver, CO
- Schedule: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Job Summary / Work Schedule
- Standard workweek: 5 days per week
- Shift length: 9 hours per day
- Breaks: One 30‐minute lunch two 15‐minute breaks
Position Overview & Requirements
The Material Handler Heavy Lifting position involves processing orders and moving boxes containing files, books, binders, backup tapes, and other stored materials. This is a physically demanding role requiring manual lifting, carrying, and arranging of boxes while standing, stooping, crawling, kneeling, and twisting.
Employees must be able to:
- Lift and carry boxes weighing 10–100 lbs without assistance
- Safely operate hand trucks and pallet jacks
- Work on uneven and concrete surfaces
Essential Functions
- Walk, stand, kneel, squat, stoop, and bend for extended periods
- Work independently to grip, lift, push, pull, and carry boxes—including up and down stairs, inclines, and uneven surfaces
- Read and write English to process orders and follow instructions
- Lift, move, and organize boxes; read labels; process incoming and outgoing orders
- Use proprietary computer systems to track orders and locate materials
- Operate handheld scanners
- Climb and balance on ladders
- Lift and carry boxes up to 100 lbs for prolonged periods without assistance
- Load, operate, and maneuver hand carts, pallet jacks, and other material‐handling tools
- Load and shrink‐wrap pallets at ground level or on carts
- Load boxes onto pallets and load pallets onto trucks manually or with handling equipment
