Key Responsibilities
- Interpret and execute designs from engineering drawings and CAD documentation.
- Contribute to design reviews and suggest improvements for mechanical robustness, control reliability, maintainability, and practical problem-solving on the shop floor.
- Install, commission, and maintain automated machinery, sensors, motion systems, and control components.
- Support prototype equipment builds, wiring, and debugging of mechanical and electrical subsystems.
- Create and maintain schematics, wiring diagrams, and documentation of control systems.
- Troubleshoot automation systems and circuits including mechanical assemblies, motion control components, PLC-control systems, PID controllers, and instrumentation to resolve operational issues.
- Assist engineers with data collection, calibration, and equipment validation during process development.
- Perform preventative maintenance and assist in implementing safety and reliability improvements.
- Fabricate and assemble mechanical components using CNC mill, drill press, saws, welding, and power tools, including design build of jigs/ and fixtures.
- Source components, support procurement, and track installation for projects.
- Maintain safety and compliance standards during all operation and fabrication activities.
- US citizenship required (due to federal contract work).
- Associate's degree or technical certification in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- 2 years of hands-on experience working on automated or electromechanical systems in a lab or production environment.
- Proficiency with automation and controls systems including sensors, actuators, motion control components, and PLCs.
- Basic knowledge of wiring standards, control logic and industrial communication protocols.
- Comfortable using hand tools, testing instruments, and diagnostic software
- Experience in machining, welding, assembly, and hands-on equipment support.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with a safety-first mindset.
- Experience with CNC milling and CAM software
- Background in materials, chemical, prototyping, or pilot plant environments
- MIG and/or TIG welding proficiency
- Familiarity with LabVIEW software
- Experience directly managing vendor relationships for part and component sourcing, quoting, and procurement
