Position Summary:
The Junior Engineer supports the Engineering Department in developing technical drawings, coordinating with internal teams, and assisting in the preparation of shop drawings and fabrication details. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals with 0–2 years of experience who are eager to learn window systems, construction processes, and Skyline standards. The role involves hands-on training, close mentorship, and exposure to engineering workflows.
Essential Functions:
- Interpret architectural details and drawings.
- Assist in the preparation and revision of AutoCAD drawings.
- Support senior engineers in shop drawing development.
- Perform basic field measurements and documentation.
- Create hand sketches and markups under supervision.
- Maintain accurate project data and documentation.
- Communicate effectively with Engineering, Project Management, and Sales teams.
- Participate in training and apply learned standards.
Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong AutoCAD fundamentals.
- Basic understanding of architectural and shop drawings.
- Good Excel skills, including basic formulas and organization.
- Basic construction and hand tool knowledge.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to learn quickly and follow direction.
Experience and Education:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
- 0–2 years of experience.
- Window industry experience is a plus.
- Metal panel/slab cover experience is a plus.
- Curtain wall experience is a plus.
- 3D drawing ability is a plus.
- Architectural façade experience is a plus.
- Intermediate-level AutoCAD experience required.
