We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Operations Engineer with a strong focus on network engineering and automation to join our team. As an Operational Engineer with a network specialization, you will be responsible for supporting and maintaining a reliable and efficient network infrastructure. Your expertise will ensure the seamless operation and performance of our customers' network systems, enabling our services to meet the highest standards of availability and reliability.

You can expect to spend your time accomplishing the following:

  • 30% of the time on Objective 1: Network Monitoring and Troubleshooting
  • 30% of the time on Objective 2: Incident Management and Response
  • 30% of the time on Objective 3: Problem Management
  • 10% of the time on Objective 4: Performance Optimization

 

Job Responsibilities – What to Expect

  • Deploy and manage network monitoring tools to proactively identify and resolve potential network issues. Investigate and troubleshoot complex network problems and collaborate with cross-functional teams to find effective solutions.
  • Participate in incident response and resolution, providing timely and effective support to address network-related incidents and minimize downtime.
    • Work with the Incident Managers to assist in all critical incidents. 
    • Tier 3 escalation for NOC personnel.
    • Respond to all incidents across assigned customers                 
    • Follow standard operating procedures to resolve common Incidents.
    • In the ticketing tool, accurately articulate and note the steps taken to diagnose the problem.
    • Effectively use network diagnosis tools and be able to interpret the results.
  • Proactive problem management will be used to reduce Incidents by Identify solutions for temporary remediation made during incident response, working for ways to avoid those incidents in the future through Problem review meetings and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) that may be presented to the customer.
    • Will work with the Incident Manager (IM) to provide reporting on problematic nodes and/or circuits.
    • Analyze network device logs daily to determine potential problems. 
  • Continuously analyze network performance data, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations to improve network efficiency and response times.
  • Complete network-related customer Move Add Change Delete (MACD) requests as needed. Manage and support the change management process and the collaboration between the customer’s change management and Skyline change management. 
  • Maintain network security measures to protect against unauthorized access, data breaches, and other security threats. Ensure compliance with industry regulations and best practices.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools to streamline network provisioning, configuration, and maintenance tasks. Embrace automation to increase network reliability and reduce manual intervention.

 

Your Knowledge & Expertise

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • ITIL Certification preferred, not required. 
  • CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) preferred not required.
  • Five (5) years of relevant hands-on network management systems experience 
  • Five (5) years of relevant experience with remote troubleshooting of client networks and systems
  • Proficiency in network monitoring and analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark, LogicMonitor, Zabbix).
  • Familiarity with automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Ansible).
  • Hands-on experience with network hardware devices, such as routers, switches, and load balancers.
  • Thorough knowledge of TCP/IP and IP networking
  • Advanced knowledge of multicasting
  • Knowledge of VLAN, Spanning Tree, LAG/LACP/VPC/Port channels
  • Integration of layers 2/MPLS/3 over switched/routed/optical network footprint
  • Strong working knowledge of BGP, OSPF, EIGRP and static routing
  • Familiarity with VRF and VPN deployments
  • Advanced configuration experience with Cisco routers and switches mandatory IOS/IOS- XE, IOS-XR, NX-OS
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work off hours and weekends

Salary : $70,000 - $90,000
