Role Description The Circulating Nurse provides perioperative nursing care in the operating room, ensuring a safe and efficient environment for patients, surgeons, and staff. This is a part-time, on-site role based in Santa Clarita, CA. Daily responsibilities include preparing the operating room, verifying equipment and supplies, and participating in preoperative patient assessments and time-outs. The Circulating Nurse coordinates with the surgical team, monitors and documents patient status, and maintains sterile and aseptic techniques by supporting the scrub team. Additional duties include managing specimens, ensuring accurate counts, maintaining detailed records in accordance with regulatory standards, and providing patient advocacy from preoperative admission through transfer to recovery. The role also involves collaboration on quality improvement initiatives, adherence to facility policies, and participation in ongoing clinical education.
Qualifications
- Ability to apply evidence-based practice in the perioperative setting.
- Demonstrated expertise or willingness to train in all aspects of Perioperative care, including pre-, intra-, and postoperative patient management.
- Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of California.
- Current BLS certification and ACLS certification
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and patient advocacy skills, with the ability to remain calm and organized in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team, follow infection prevention and safety protocols, and maintain accurate documentation in electronic health records.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required.
Schedule
- 30-32 hours/week (Variable Days) Week 1: T/W/F , Week 2: T/W/Th
- $65/hour
- Peri-operative role (Pre, Intra, & Post-operative care of the patient)
