About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Substance Use Disorder Counselor to join our behavioral health team. In this role, you will provide direct counseling and support to individuals affected by substance use and co-occurring disorders. You’ll work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary care team to help clients build sustainable recovery plans and achieve lasting wellness.
What You’ll Do
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions for clients with substance use disorders.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to create personalized treatment plans and measurable goals.
- Deliver crisis intervention and immediate support when needed.
- Educate clients and families on substance use, recovery strategies, and relapse prevention techniques.
- Track and evaluate client progress, maintaining accurate and timely documentation.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to coordinate care and support services.
- Uphold confidentiality, ethical standards, and all applicable regulations in substance abuse counseling.
What It Takes
- Degree in Human Services or a related field preferred.
- Substance Use Disorder Counselor Certification (SAC or CSAC) preferred.
- Minimum of one year of relevant counseling experience required.
- Comprehensive understanding of addiction, recovery, and co-occurring disorders.
- Awareness of social and economic challenges—including homelessness, poverty, and mental illness—and their impact on individuals and families.
