Responsibilities
- Assist with animal restraint, handling, and pet care to ensure safety and comfort during examinations and procedures
- Support veterinary technicians with tasks such as IV insertion, medication administration, animal catheterization, and aseptic techniques
- Maintain cleanliness of the clinic by performing thorough cleaning, sanitation, and equipment sterilization in accordance with veterinary standards
- Help with laboratory procedures including sample collection, record keeping, and basic testing to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning
- Manage front desk duties such as client communication, appointment scheduling, and maintaining accurate medical records
- Assist in surgical procedures by preparing animals, monitoring anesthesia under supervision, and providing post-operative care
- Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to uphold safety protocols for staff and animals alike
Skills
- Prior kennel experience or animal handling skills that demonstrate comfort working with animals including dogs and cats.
- Veterinary clinic experience with knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal husbandry, and basic laboratory procedures
- Proficiency in animal restraint techniques, medication administration, IV insertion, and aseptic technique
- Strong understanding of animal behavior, anatomy, physiology, and welfare principles to promote safe handling and care
- Excellent client communication skills to provide pet care advice and foster positive relationships with pet owners
- Ability to perform detailed record keeping accurately while managing multiple responsibilities in a busy environment
- Experience with front desk operations including scheduling appointments and managing client interactions is a plus
