Position Summary
Skyline Systems is seeking a detail-oriented Architectural CAD Drafter to join our engineering and design team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating accurate 2D and 3D CAD drawings of structural aluminum systems, assemblies, and components used in commercial and residential construction. This role requires strong drafting skills, knowledge of structural design principles, and the ability to collaborate with engineers, project managers, and fabrication teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed CAD drawings for permit submittals and fabrication documents for manufacturing.
- Develop 2D models using AutoCAD. Experience in 3D with Inventor a plus.
- Produce shop drawings, assembly drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs).
- Revise drawings based on engineering and customer feedback.
- Ensure all drawings comply with company standards, applicable codes, and industry best practices.
- Maintain accurate drawing revisions and document control procedures.
- Support fabrication and installation teams by responding to drawing-related questions.
- Assist in design improvements aimed at increasing manufacturability and efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree, technical certificate, or equivalent experience in Drafting, CAD Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- 2 years of CAD drafting experience, preferably involving structural aluminum systems, metal fabrication, or structural components.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD. Additional Autodesk Inventor experience preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with wood frame, steel frame, and post tension concrete structural systems.
- Familiarity with structural engineering concepts and load-bearing assemblies.
- Exposure to siding and building envelope systems.
- Understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Experience with working in a commercial construction industry.
