About the Role:
As an Elevator Mechanic, you will play a key role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and optimal performance of elevator and vertical transportation systems. Your primary responsibilities will include the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of elevators and related equipment. You will work both independently and as part of a team to identify electrical and mechanical issues, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure all systems comply with Florida state regulations and safety standards.
Your expertise will directly contribute to the safe operation of equipment within our client portfolio in the Tampa area, helping reduce downtime, improve system efficiency, and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Florida Elevator Mechanic License (CC License) or CET (Certified Elevator Technician) certification, or equivalent.
- Proven experience in elevator installation, maintenance, and repair.
- Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic elevator systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with both traction and hydraulic elevators.
- Knowledge in the use of advanced diagnostic equipment and elevator control systems.
- Certifications in related specialties (e.g., QEI is a plus).
Responsibilities:
- Install, repair, and maintain elevators, escalators, and other vertical transportation systems.
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic issues and perform corrective repairs.
- Execute preventive maintenance to ensure equipment meets safety and performance standards.
- Troubleshoot control systems, motors, brakes, doors, and safety mechanisms.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
- Ensure compliance with Florida regulations and ANSI/ASME elevator codes.
- Communicate effectively with customers and team members regarding service needs and repair timelines.
Skills:
A strong foundation in electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems is essential for diagnosing and repairing complex elevator issues. The ability to read blueprints, electrical diagrams, and control schematics enables accurate diagnostics and repair execution. Knowledge of safety devices, braking systems, and controllers is key to ensuring code compliance and safe operation.
