The Learning & Development Specialist reports to the Learning & Development Manager (L&D Manager) and is responsible for assisting the L&D Manager with designing, implementing, and managing training and development programs that support employee growth, operational excellence, leadership development, and workforce engagement across the organization. This role partners with leaders in construction operations, project management, field supervision, safety, and corporate functions to identify skill gaps, develop training solutions, and promote a culture of continuous learning.
The Learning & Development Specialist will play a key role in onboarding new employees, supporting career development initiatives, maintaining training records, and ensuring employees have the knowledge and skills necessary to deliver high-quality tenant improvement construction projects safely, efficiently, and in alignment with company values.
As a Learning & Development Specialist, you will serve in the following areas:
\n- Assist Learning & Development Manager to translate business needs, role expectations, and process knowledge into engaging learning solutions.
- Assess training and development needs through surveys, interviews, focus groups, performance feedback, and communication with managers, employees, and business stakeholders.
- Design and build engaging eLearning courses, modules, interactions, learning paths, videos, and supporting materials using tools such as Articulate Storyline, Rise, Vyond, Cornerstone, and Microsoft 365.
- Develop quizzes, knowledge checks, scenario-based activities, participant handouts, answer keys, and other reinforcement tools to support learner practice and measure understanding.
- Create, organize, plan, and present various forms of training, including onboarding, one-on-one training, webinars, and classroom sessions for employees.
- Create, maintain, and organize reusable course templates, procedure guides, multimedia assets, job aids, and learning resources to support consistent, scalable content development across programs.
- Ensure that training materials, eLearning courses, videos, assessments, and learning programs remain current, accurate, engaging, and aligned with policies, business strategies, and program goals.
- Maintain records of training and development activities, attendance, assessment results, completion data, and retraining requirements.
- Administer learning content within Cornerstone OnDemand, including course maintenance, assignments, completion tracking, reporting, and learner support.
- Evaluate program effectiveness through assessments, surveys, feedback, and training data; recommend improvements to strengthen engagement, retention, and business impact.
- Support webinar coordination, learner communications, and training logistics as required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong graphic design ability.
- Understanding of the training process.
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to moderate large groups.
- Adept with a variety of multimedia training platforms and methods.
- Ability to evaluate and research training options and alternatives.
- Strong instructional design, visual communication, and adult-learning skills.
- Ability to translate complex business processes into engaging learning experiences.
- Familiarity with AI-enabled learning tools and emerging learning technologies.
- Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related program software.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and the ability to work under pressure.
- Experience working across multiple-client groups and functions.
- Some travel to California and Washington required.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, organizational development, training, business or a related field preferred.
- 3 years of experience in Learning & Development, instructional design, training development, talent development, or related field.
- Experience developing eLearning content using instructional design tools such as Articulate Storyline, Rise, or similar authoring platforms preferred.
- Learning Management System (LMS) knowledge required, Cornerstone On Demand preferred.
- Construction General Contractor or similar industry experience preferred.

Salary : $102,584 - $125,665
