With new ownership, we are starting our next chapter, and we are looking for a high energy, organized, detailed oriented Senior Accountant to join our corporate team in Fairfield, OH.
The Senior Accountant for Restaurant Operations is responsible for overseeing financial activities related to restaurant operations, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and providing strategic financial guidance to enhance operational efficiency and profitability. This position will report to the VP, Accounting and Finance.
Essential Functions
- Manage and supervise day-to-day accounting operations for 28 corporate store restaurant locations.
- Oversee the preparation of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, specifically for corporate restaurant operations.
- Analyze financial data and provide insights to improve cost efficiency, revenue generation, and overall financial performance.
- Coordinate period-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
- Monitor and reconcile general ledger accounts, bank accounts, and credit card transactions.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice processing, payment scheduling, and collections with store operations management.
- Collaborate with restaurant leadership, managers and operational staff to develop annual budgets and forecasts, provide value add analysis and insights along with back-office support for business requests.
- Conduct regular variance analysis to identify deviations from budgeted targets and recommend corrective actions.
- Utilization and super-user of Data Central, back-office system for corporate and some franchise restaurants.
- Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and mitigate financial risks.
- Support external audits and liaise with auditors to provide necessary documentation and explanations.
- Mentor and train junior accounting staff, fostering professional development and knowledge sharing.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field;
- Proven experience (5 years) in accounting or finance roles.
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Data Central) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and trends.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial records and reporting.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
