Medical Receptionist/Medical Assistant

Medical receptionists are professionals who are responsible for coordinating the daily administration of doctors, staff, visitors and patients at a healthcare facility. They schedule appointments, answer patient inquiries, handle patient emergencies, and monitor stock and supplies at the healthcare facility.

• Greet and attend to patients in person and over the phone.
• Professionally assist doctors, staff, visitors and patients.
• Maintain business inventory such as checking supplies, scheduling equipment and maintenance repairs.
• Answer all phone calls in a professional and courteous manner.
• Perform all duties within HIPAA regulations.
• Maintain confidentiality of all doctor, staff and patient information.
• Schedule appointments between doctors and patients.
• Liaise between medical departments with discretion and professionalism
• Adhere to policy and procedures during all activates.
• Assist with admissions/treatment as per agreed protocols.
• Ensure that stock levels are adequate and orders are made timeously.
• Communicate medical results to patients under clinical supervision.
• Complete accurate documentation of patient visits.

A Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) is a multi-skilled healthcare professional who works under the direct supervision of physicians. They bridge the gap between patients and medical staff by performing a crucial blend of clinical, administrative, and laboratory duties to ensure clinics and doctor's offices run smoothly

Core Clinical Responsibilities

• Patient Intake: Interviewing patients to record medical histories and measuring vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, weight, and pulse).
• Exam Preparation: Preparing examination rooms, sterilizing medical instruments, and assisting doctors during physical exams and minor procedures.
• Direct Care: Administering medications, giving injections/immunizations, and changing bandages under the direction of a licensed provider.

Laboratory & Testing Duties

• Phlebotomy: Drawing blood, collecting urine, and preparing specimens for laboratory testing.
• Diagnostics: Performing basic CLIA-waived laboratory tests and preparing patients for procedures such as electrocardiograms (EKGs)
