Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in assisting clients with a variety of needs, including physical, developmental, and cognitive challenges. As a COTA, you will work closely with licensed occupational therapists to deliver personalized therapy services across diverse settings such as i skilled nursing facilities. Your role is vital in helping individuals regain independence, improve daily functioning, and enhance their quality of life through targeted therapeutic interventions.
Responsibilities
- Assist licensed occupational therapists in developing and implementing individualized care plans tailored to each client’s needs.
- Support clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including grooming, dressing, feeding, and mobility tasks.
- Provide therapy services to clients who are geriatric requiring occupational health support.
- Facilitate therapy sessions focused on improving motor skills, sensory processing, and cognitive functions for clients with neurodevelopmental disorders or disabilities.
- Assist with patient transport and manual handling to ensure safe movement and transfer of clients within clinical or home settings.
- Contribute to documentation of client progress and communicate observations to the supervising occupational therapist.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment by adhering to health and safety protocols while managing equipment and therapy materials.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care delivery in inpatient, outpatient, or home health contexts.
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant from an accredited program.
- Prior experience in acute care, skilled nursing facilities, outpatient clinics, or home health settings is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and the principles of occupational therapy.
- Familiarity with assisting clients in activities related to geriatrics.
- Ability to perform manual handling techniques safely while supporting patient mobility and transfers.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with clients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Demonstrated understanding of care plans development and implementation tailored to diverse client needs.
