Position Summary
The Director of National Accounts is responsible for developing, managing, and expanding key national and global accounts for a luxury hotel and resort portfolio. This role focuses on driving high-value business across corporate, group, and diplomatic segments while strengthening strategic partnerships and maximizing revenue opportunities.
Remote Position **Candidates must reside within one hour of Washington, DC and bring established relationships within government, diplomatic, and political sectors. The ideal candidate is a highly connected sales leader with experience navigating complex, high-profile accounts and representing luxury hospitality brands at the highest level.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Account Management
- Develop and execute strategic plans for national, governmental, and diplomatic accounts
- Manage relationships with government agencies, embassies, international organizations, and political stakeholders
- Negotiate preferred agreements, RFPs, and long-term contracts
- Expand share of wallet across multiple properties within the portfolio
Revenue Generation & Market Growth
- Drive revenue across group, corporate, and diplomatic segments
- Identify new business opportunities within Washington, DC and national markets
- Collaborate with property-level sales teams to align account strategies
- Monitor production, booking pace, and account performance
Relationship Development
- Maintain and grow relationships with key decision-makers within government and diplomatic sectors
- Represent the brand at industry events, political functions, and networking engagements
- Conduct regular client meetings, site visits, and presentations
- Host VIP clients and delegations at portfolio properties
Collaboration & Leadership
- Partner with Sales, Revenue Management, and Marketing teams across the portfolio
- Provide strategic direction to property-level Directors of Sales
- Align account strategies with brand positioning and business goals
Reporting & Analytics
- Track account performance, revenue production, and market trends
- Prepare forecasts, reports, and strategic updates for executive leadership
- Maintain CRM systems with accurate account data and pipeline activity
Required Qualifications
- 5–8 years of progressive sales experience in luxury hotel or resort environments
- Proven experience managing government, diplomatic, or political accounts
- Established network within Washington, DC including embassies, government agencies, and international organizations
- Demonstrated success negotiating high-value contracts and driving revenue growth
- Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to travel as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with luxury hotel brands or collections
- Background working with diplomatic delegations, government travel programs, or international groups
- Experience with consortia and luxury travel networks
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Business, or related field
