What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Personal Trainer position at Skybound Fitness?
Certified Personal Trainer / Strength Coach (Full-Time or Part-Time)
The Bottom Line: Most fitness jobs are dead-end contractor gigs. You work split shifts, chase sales quotas, and get paid $0 for the work you do outside of coaching.
Skybound Fitness is different. We are a strength-focused studio in Malden built on the idea that trainers should have careers, not just shifts. We handle the sales and lead generation; you handle the coaching and the community.
The Logistics:
- Location: Malden, MA (2 blocks from Malden Center T).
- Schedule: Flexible. We are looking for someone to own core blocks (typically between 6:00 AM – 1:00 PM), but we are open to discussing weekday and weekend preferences (Saturday/Sunday) to fit the right person's lifestyle.
- Compensation: $30-50K / year.
- Hours: 20–40 hours per week depending on your goals and skill set.
What We Are Looking For: We are looking for someone who can be a high level coach on the floor but also has an interest in the "back-of-house" business operations. Whether your secondary interest is in Marketing, Finance, Operations, or Client Success, we have a seat at the table for you to help build this company.
The Role:
- Precision Coaching (75%): Lead small-group strength cohorts (1:4) and group classes. We don't do "sweaty entertainment." We do biomechanically sound strength training (Squat, Press, Deadlift).
- Business Operations (25%): This is your paid time to help run the studio. You’ll manage client journeys, assist with specialized projects (Marketing, Ops, or Finance), and ensure the "Skybound Standards" are met every day.
Why Skybound?
- No Sales Quotas: Your success is measured by client results and retention, not how many packages you sell.
- Career Runway: This isn't just a side hustle. We have a documented 24-month path for you to grow from a Junior Coach to a Senior Leader with us.
- Paid Education: Annual stipend for CEUs and certifications after 90 days.
- Direct Mentorship: Work directly with the owner to learn how a boutique fitness business actually scales.
Requirements:
- Commute: You live within ~20 minutes of Malden, MA.
- Certification: Current CPT and CPR/AED (or proof of upcoming exam).
- Mindset: You prefer real strength coaching over leading "cardio-HIIT" playlists. You understand that "serious training" and "low ego" can coexist.
- Communication: You write and speak like a human, not a corporate HR manual.
To Apply: Submit your resume here. We are looking to move quickly for the right candidate.
Benefits:
- Flexible schedule
- Gym membership
- Opportunities for advancement
- Work Location: In person
Salary : $30,000 - $50,000
