Laundry Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY:

The Hotel Laundry Supervisor will act in a leadership and training capacity under the general direction and review of the Housekeeping Manager and/or Operations director. The Supervisor will direct the activities of subordinate laundry staff to complete assigned tasks and goals defined by the Housekeeping Manager. This position ensures all linens are clean and acceptable for hotel use, establishing, and implementing appropriate work procedures for meeting quality and production standards. The Supervisor is responsible for training all laundry attendants and ensuring all team members abide by Casino policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Assists in planning work schedules for the laundry worker(s) and distributes assignments accordingly.

2. Assigns Laundry attendants to their regular duties or any special assignments that need to be accomplished.

3. Performs a variety of clerical duties; maintain logbooks, spreadsheets, input data as needed and file necessary documentation.

4. Trains and monitors laundry attendants in operating various laundry equipment such as washers, dryers, flatwork irons and towel folders, laundering, drying, sorting, folding and bulk distribution of towels and bedding.

5. Maintains time reports and records of subordinates working in the laundry.

6. Operates various laundry equipment such as washers, dryers, flatwork irons and towel folders.

7. Performs routine and preventative maintenance on equipment.

8. Responsible for maintaining laundry inventory and submitting purchase requisitions for supplies accordingly.

9. Responsible for cleaning and maintaining work areas and checking all areas for cleanliness.

10. Ensures all policies and procedures are being followed (in accordance with the Sky Ute Casino Resort and housekeeping departmental policies and procedures).

11. Promotes the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.

12. Assists with performing timely evaluations of workers.

13. Schedules all breaks and monitor the time allotted for each worker.

14. Informs Housekeeping Manager of any malfunctions of equipment or problems with safety mechanisms of equipment.

15. Maintains accountability of staff and property.

16. Adheres to all safety practices.

17. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

· Must be at least 21 years old.

· Must have a High School Diploma or GED.

· Must have one (1) year prior laundry experience, commercial or institutional laundry experience preferred.

· Must have three (3) years prior supervising experience.

· Must be able to work all shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.

· Must have excellent attendance.

· Must have organizational skills and an eye for detail.

· Must have adequate computer skills.

· Must be able to remain sensitive to cultural diversity in the workplace.

· Must maintain strict confidentiality at all times, including personnel data, gaming regulations and compliance.

REASONING ABILITY:

· Must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form.

· Must be able to deal with a variety of problematic situations and technical challenges.

· Must be able to exhibit confidence in judgment and decision making.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

· Must lift, push, pull and move up to 70 pounds.

· Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods.

· Must be able to operate laundry or cleaning machinery and equipment.

· Must be able to reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and sit throughout the work shift.

· Must have a full range of motion and adequate strength in the use of hands and arms.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

· Must be able to work in a cold or hot conditions.

· Must be able to work in a noisy and crowded environment.

· Employee will work with exposure to moving mechanical parts.

· Employee may be exposed to wet conditions, airborne particles that may be toxic or caustic.

· Must be able to constantly work under close surveillance cameras.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

· Candidate selected for employment will be subject to pre-employment drug test, employment reference, and background check.

· Must sign a confidentiality agreement at time of hire.

· Must obtain and maintain a Sky Ute Casino Staff License.

· Must comply fully with all Sky Ute Casino’s policies and procedures, Gaming Code regulations, and any applicable policies and regulations set forth by the Casino Resort.

Pay: From $17.00 per hour
