The Enterprise Architect is responsible for leading the development, maintenance, and publication of the Agency’s Target Enterprise Architecture in support of the Social Security Administration’s Enterprise Architecture and Innovation Staff (EAIS). This role provides senior-level architectural guidance across the agency’s technology portfolio, defining current state, transition state, and target state Enterprise Architectures at both enterprise and business domain levels. The Enterprise Architect develops Enterprise Architecture models, transition roadmaps, and reference architectures that align IT investments with SSA’s strategic objectives in compliance with the Clinger-Cohen Act of 1996 and OMB Circular A-130. The role serves as a senior advisor to the Chief Architect, Chief Technology Officer, and SSA executive leadership on enterprise architecture standards, governance, and modernization initiatives.
Design Tasks:
· Develop, maintain, and publish the Agency Target Enterprise Architecture, including current state, transition state, and target state architectures at both enterprise and business domain levels.
· Develop Enterprise Architecture models and transition roadmaps to guide the agency’s evolution from current state to target state Enterprise Architecture.
· Develop, maintain, and publish the Agency Reference Architecture, creating standardized reference architectures and guidelines across architecture components (Application, Data, Platform, Infrastructure, Operations) that follow modern standards and leverage cloud-native architectures.
· Collaborate with agency resources to promote standardized use of the Reference Architecture across SSA’s technology environment.
· Develop and maintain the Agency Approved Software list in alignment with the Agency Reference Architecture.
· Maintain and integrate Enterprise Architecture data within the EAIS Repository and ensure data integrity across architectural artifacts.
· Create and maintain Enterprise Architecture diagrams, models, and reports for stakeholder use.
· Present Enterprise Architecture information, recommendations, and strategic guidance to SSA Executives and Staff.
· Assess and document whether applications are in compliance with the agency’s architectural direction; provide recommendations and level-of-effort analysis to bring non-compliant applications into compliance.
· Develop transition Roadmaps for non-compliant Applications and support Application Rationalization activities.
· Evaluate, propose changes, and build implementation plans for Software and Technology Governance activities.
· Provide guidance on Enterprise Technology Strategy and Modernization including Enterprise Technology Roadmap development, Legacy Debt Mitigation, and Technical Adoption processes.
· Provide training and mentoring services to current and future EA staff on Enterprise Architecture standards, tools, and industry best practices.
· Develop executive-level briefings, technical documents, presentations, and weekly status reports to fulfill work order objectives.
Required Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of relevant experience in Enterprise Architecture, Solution Architecture, or enterprise IT strategy; master’s degree may substitute for part of the experience.
· Demonstrated experience leading Enterprise Architecture programs in complex enterprise or federal environments.
· Strong experience with Federal Enterprise Architecture (FEA) and TOGAF frameworks.
· Experience defining as-is, transition state, and future state architectures across enterprise and business domain levels.
· Experience developing and maintaining Reference Architectures, Target Architectures, and transition roadmaps.
· Experience with cloud architectures and development including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS.
· Experience with Servicenow Application Portfolio Management and Application Rationalization or other similar tools .
· Experience installing, configuring, maintaining, and using Enterprise Architecture Repositories.
· Experience with Configuration Management Database (CMDB) tools, Technopedia BDNA, or equivalent.
· Experience developing and implementing Software and Technology Governance standards.
· Experience modeling architectures using industry-standard tools and notations.
· Strong experience using Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, Confluence, and SharePoint.
· Experience developing executive-level communications and presentations.
· Strong mentoring, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust.
Pay: $120,000.00 per year
