Responsibilities
- Prepare and assemble sushi dishes with precision and artistry, adhering to established recipes and presentation standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station and kitchen area in compliance with food safety regulations
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and rotation of ingredients to maintain freshness and quality
- Assist in menu planning, including developing new sushi offerings and seasonal specials
- Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and communicate needs for replenishment
- Collaborate with restaurant staff to deliver exceptional food service experiences
- Uphold all food safety standards, including proper knife skills, sanitation, and allergen management
- Participate in catering events or special functions as needed
- Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude while working in a fast-paced environment
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar culinary role within the food industry, fine dining, or restaurant setting
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and food handling safety protocols
- Expertise in knife skills, meal preparation, and sushi rolling techniques
- Experience with menu planning and creating innovative sushi dishes
- Background in dietary department or dietary aide experience is a plus
- Excellent food safety practices and understanding of kitchen safety procedures
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- Prior experience in catering or serving is advantageous
- Culinary experience with a focus on Japanese cuisine or sushi is preferred
