Job Title: Solution Architect (Java)
Location: Tysons Corner, VA

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Solutions Architect to design and lead the development of scalable, secure, and cloud-native applications within a large-scale enterprise healthcare environment.
This role is responsible for defining architecture, guiding engineering teams, and driving modernization initiatives by transforming legacy systems into microservices-based, cloud-enabled solutions.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, distributed systems, and AWS, along with a proven track record of delivering high-performance enterprise applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, cloud-native architectures using microservices principles
• Lead modernization initiatives, including migration from legacy systems to distributed architectures
• Define and develop RESTful APIs and service communication patterns
• Provide hands-on technical leadership and guidance to development teams
• Ensure system performance, scalability, reliability, and security
• Design data flow and integration patterns across multiple systems
• Implement best practices for observability, logging, and monitoring
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, DevOps, and product stakeholders
• Conduct architecture reviews and ensure adherence to standards and best practices
• Support cloud infrastructure design and deployment strategies

Required Skills & Experience

• 10 years of experience in software development and architecture
• Strong proficiency in Java (11 or higher) and Spring Boot
• Proven experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems
• Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services (e.g., S3, IAM, compute services)
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs
• Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Strong understanding of system scalability, performance, and fault tolerance
• Experience working in Agile development environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka or similar messaging systems)
• Exposure to enterprise integration patterns
• Experience in healthcare or regulated environments
• Familiarity with security standards such as HIPAA or NIST
• Knowledge of distributed caching technologies

Education

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)

Compensation:
The expected compensation range for this position is $130,000 - $190,000 annually. Compensation is determined in good faith and may vary based on job-related factors, including relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, clearance level, labor category alignment, contract requirements, work location, internal equity, and business needs.
