What are the responsibilities and job description for the Founding Engineer position at Sky Schedule?
About the Company
Sky Schedule is a flight school management and operating system designed to modernize aviation operations. The platform enables flight schools to manage scheduling, billing, and day-to-day training workflows in one integrated solution.
Built from direct collaboration with some of the top flight schools and aircraft manufacturers in the United States, Sky Schedule addresses the aviation industry’s reliance on outdated, expensive, and inefficient systems. Our mission is to bring aviation software into a new era of simplicity, speed, and reliability. This is an opportunity to join at an early stage and help build the foundation of a product that is gaining strong momentum across the industry.
About the Role
We are seeking a Founding Engineer with a strong background in backend development and database architecture. The ideal candidate will take ownership of our backend systems, collaborate closely with product and design, and play a central role in shaping the next version of Sky Schedule.
Your initial focus will be leading the development of our upcoming Version 2 release—a refreshed UI and improved platform built from our existing codebase using Supabase. Following this release, you will drive the implementation of new features based on user feedback and customer data.
This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in early-stage environments, takes initiative, and enjoys building systems that directly impact real-world users.
