Assistant Dev. Director & Special Events

• Assist in appeal efforts throughout the year including design, communication pieces, target list and video initiatives
• Lead the summer appeal effort including but not limited to overall design, collateral, video, and electronic communication 
• Assist giving efforts for all other appeals
• Manage all aspects of the annual fundraising gala and any other events the Development Team has throughout a year, including:
  1. Tracking of revenue streams: sponsorships, table and ticket sales, live auction, silent auction, raffle, and scholarship appeal.
  2. Oversight of all event aspects including but not limited to venue, audio/visual, décor, programming, print collateral, VIP reception, PR, celebrity communication, volunteers, and in-kind donations. 
  3. Solicit and secure in-kind donations, sponsorships, participants, or volunteers for fundraising events. 
  4. Prepare materials for special fundraising events, such as invitations, sponsorship forms, bid sheets, and other related materials. 
• Develop and build ongoing and new relationships with individuals, foundations, business owners, camper families and corporate contacts. 
• Monitor budgets, expense reports, or other financial data for fundraising activities. 
• Attend community events, meetings, and conferences to promote organizational goals or solicit donations or sponsorships. 
• Recruit and manage volunteer staff for events.
• Communicate with Director of Development through required weekly updates and financial reports.  In absence of Director of Development, the Development & Event Manager will report to the President and CEO.

• College degree preferred.

• A seasoned development professional with a minimum of five years of experience and familiarity with best practices in the field, including event management aspects such as planning, budgeting, revenue generation, programming, venue coordination, and execution of events raising a minimum of $750,000. Preferred to have prior experience in a non-profit, faith-based organization.
• Demonstrated success in meeting ambitious fundraising goals.
• Capital campaign experience preferred.

• Solid grasp of all facets of advancement work, from databases to major gifts to stewardship.
• Familiarity with the grant making process.
• Proficient working knowledge and ability to use various office software including but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Fundraising software. Basic internet and social media skills.

• Ability to relate positively, influentially, and sensitively to a broad spectrum of persons in a variety of multi-tiered relationships and settings to include but not limited to customers (students and parents,) clergy and staff of various Christian churches and organizations of all sizes, cultural identities and worship styles, co-workers, peers, board members and donors.
• Ability to imagine fundraising potential and secure support where no natural constituency exists.
• Ability to prepare moderately complex reports.
• Ability to exercise independent thinking and initiative.
• Excellent communicator, both as a presenter in meetings and through written and other forms of communications.
• Excellent organizational skills: ability to multi-task and manage a variety of tasks.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of donors and prospects.
• Ability to communicate the vision of Sky Ranch to both internal and external customers.
• Ability to encourage and build mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
• Ability to travel by car to Sky Ranch in Van, TX for special meetings during the week and to help implement the summer appeal and cultivate donor relationships on weekends.
• Ability to exhibit professionalism in the workplace to include professional and accurate communication with others.

• Ability to use up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects.
• Ability to grasp, push, pull, carry, or otherwise manipulate objects; ability to perform tasks requiring action of muscles or groups of muscles and foot and/or hand-eye coordination.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Works indoors in normal office environment majority of the time.
• Little to no exposure to physical risk.
