What are the responsibilities and job description for the NCCCO Crane Operator — $30–$42 effective rate + OT After 8 Hours + 100% Paid Medical (Western PA) position at Sky Point Crane?
IMMEDIATE OPENING. We're hiring an NCCCO-certified crane operator now, and we can start you as soon as you're ready.
We're hiring an NCCCO-certified operator to run iron across Western PA, Northern WV, NW Maryland and Eastern Ohio. Sky Point Crane is on a serious growth trajectory, with major utility, telecom and federal work in the pipeline. We need an operator who wants to be part of the build, not just punch a clock.
WHAT YOU GET
- $30 – $42 per hour, depending on experience
- Overtime after 8 hours a day, not 40 a week. Most shops don't do this. Run the math.
- Prevailing wage on qualifying jobs
- 100% employer-paid UPMC medical, dental and vision (employee coverage). That's $5,196 a year that doesn't come out of your check, which is unheard of with most employers in this industry.
- Simple IRA with a 3% company match, vested immediately
- Paid holidays and PTO
- Tools and training reimbursement
- NCCCO recertification 100% paid, so you're never out of pocket to stay current
- PA State Crane Operator license: we walk you through the paper application. It's easy once your NCCCO is in hand.
THE WORK
- Operate boom trucks, truck cranes, all-terrains, carry decks and rough terrains from 30 to 225 tons
- Pre-operational inspections, lift planning, site visits, rigging and routine equipment maintenance
- Operate support tractors, trailers and equipment flatbeds when needed
- Steady, high-profile work: telecom, power generation, utilities, HVAC/mechanical, steel erection, oil and gas, coal/mining and government projects
- Most days you're home at night, because regional day-trip work is the norm
- Yard-based out of Indiana, PA, with a company laydown yard and an indoor, climate-controlled warehouse
WHO YOU ARE
- NCCCO certified (REQUIRED): Mobile Crane Swing Cab (TLL) and/or Fixed Cab (TSS) Telescopic Boom
- CDL-A or CDL-B (REQUIRED, depending on vehicle assignment)
- Clean MVR
- Able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screen
- 2 years of operating experience preferred. Newer certified operators with strong references will be considered.
- PA State Crane Operator license, required for PA jobsites. We walk you through the paper application once your NCCCO is in hand.
WORK YOU'LL BE PROUD OF
This isn't a generic crane shop pitch. Sky Point Crane has worked high-profile, security-vetted events and venues, and is a vetted supplier on major sports and entertainment programs. You'll have stories. You'll have pictures. Your kids will think you're cool.
WHY THE GROWTH IS REAL
- A Master Service Agreement with a major regional electric utility that is in the middle of a multi-year infrastructure build-out
- A Master Service Agreement with a national telecom infrastructure company driving 5G, fiber and data center work
- The Homer City Redevelopment and the Amazon regional data center buildout that follows both sit right on our doorstep, in the heart of the Marcellus Shale and power plant country
- Established relationships with national wireless carriers, tower contractors and telecom infrastructure providers
- Recurring work with major regional players in coal/mining, power plants, oil and gas, HVAC/mechanical contracting and heavy equipment dealers
- HUBZone Certified, which makes us eligible for federal set-aside contracts (DOE, DOD, GSA, USACE)
TIRED OF HEAVY TRAVEL OR ROTATION SCHEDULES?
If you've been running a 2-weeks-on / 1-week-off rotation, or spending 26 weeks a year in a hotel, you know what we're talking about. The money's good. The schedule is wearing on you and your family. You miss birthdays. You miss ball games.
Sky Point Crane is where operators come to get their lives back while still making a good living.
- Day-trip work, home most nights: your bed, your couch, your kids' school plays
- Real weekends off, not "off-cycle Saturday into back-on-cycle Monday"
- OT after 8 hours plus 100% paid medical means your take-home is closer to your rotation paycheck than you'd think. Run the math, and we'll show you.
- The same caliber of technical work, without the road life
- Family-owned, not corporate. Your calls get answered and decisions get made fast.
- Modern, well-maintained equipment
