Senior Backend Engineer (FinTech)

About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to design, build, and scale critical financial infrastructure supporting payment processing and transaction services. You'll play a key role in developing backend systems that power payment operations, integrations, and financial workflows while collaborating closely with engineering leadership in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable backend services supporting payment processing, ACH transactions, collections, and disbursements.
- Develop and maintain integrations with banking partners, payment processors, and third-party financial platforms.
- Build and optimize financial infrastructure, including ledgering, reconciliation, and transaction processing.
- Ensure secure handling of sensitive financial data and maintain high standards for system reliability and integrity.
- Develop internal tools and backend services that improve operational efficiency.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize production systems supporting high-volume financial transactions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and compliant software solutions.
Qualifications
- 5 years of backend software engineering experience.
- Strong experience with TypeScript, Node.js, and modern backend development.
- Previous experience building fintech, payments, or financial services platforms.
- Solid understanding of ACH payment processing, banking integrations, and payment workflows.
- Experience designing reliable, fault-tolerant distributed systems with a focus on data integrity.
- Familiarity with secure application development and regulated financial environments.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently and within collaborative engineering teams.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with consumer lending or financial technology products.
- Knowledge of NACHA rules, ACH origination, RDFI/ODFI relationships, or payment network operations.
- Experience building payment infrastructure, reconciliation platforms, or transaction processing systems.
- Background working in startup or high-growth technology environments.
Salary : $120,000 - $150,000
