Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Process Engineer to support our aerospace and defense electronics manufacturing operations. This role will focus on Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) processes, ensuring production efficiency, quality, and compliance with customer and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with PCBA equipment, including Micronic pick-and-place systems, and can both develop processes and train operators/technicians in best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, optimize, and maintain PCBA manufacturing processes, including SMT, reflow, wave solder, conformal coating, and testing.
- Program, set up, and troubleshoot pick-and-place equipment (Micronic and other platforms).
- Provide hands-on training and mentoring to operators and technicians on equipment use, process control, and quality requirements.
- Collaborate with design, quality, and production teams to ensure manufacturability and compliance with aerospace/defense standards.
- Conduct process capability studies, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action (RCCA) to drive continuous improvement.
- Create and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and operator training guides.
- Support new product introductions (NPI) by developing and validating processes for new assemblies.
- Ensure compliance with IPC standards (IPC-A-610, J-STD-001) and customer-specific requirements.
- Participate in equipment selection, installation, and qualification.
- Drive initiatives to improve yields, reduce defects, and increase efficiency in PCBA production.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or related) or equivalent hands-on experience.
- 3 years of experience in electronics manufacturing/PCBA process engineering.
- Strong knowledge of SMT/through-hole assembly processes and equipment.
- Hands-on experience with pick-and-place machines (Micronic experience strongly preferred).
- Familiarity with aerospace/defense quality standards (AS9100, IPC-A-610, J-STD-001).
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in manufacturing environments.
- Ability to develop and deliver technical training to operators and technicians.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting aerospace and defense electronics programs.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
Salary : $80,000 - $115,000
