Nut Former / Nut forming operator

Position Summary:

Operates automatic nut forming machines to produce metal fasteners from wire. Ensures machines are set up correctly and parts meet required specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operate nut forming machines and monitor performance
• Set up and adjust machine settings, including timing and clearances
• Load and secure wire into the feeding mechanism
• Adjust tooling and transfer components at each station
• Start machines and check first-run parts to ensure quality standards are met
• Inspect parts using micrometers, gauges, and other measuring tools
• Read blueprints and job orders to understand part specifications and requirements
• Perform basic record keeping and data entry
• Maintain a clean and safe work area
• Identify and suggest process improvements
• Use the 3-pan system during production
• Report machine issues or concerns to maintenance and supervisors

Education and/or Experience:

• Experience in a manufacturing or fastener production environment preferred
• Familiarity with nut forming machines and processes
• Ability to use basic inspection tools
• Experience with SPC is a plus
• 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of training and experience
