Position Summary:
The ID/OD Grinder Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating cylindrical grinding machines to produce precision internal and external diameters to tight tolerances. This role ensures high-quality machining of components while maintaining safety, efficiency, and adherence to specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate ID/OD (internal and external) grinding machines (manual and/or CNC)
- Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to determine grinding requirements
- Perform precision grinding to tight tolerances and surface finish requirements
- Select and dress grinding wheels and tooling as needed
- Inspect finished parts using micrometers, bore gauges, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments
- Make machine adjustments to maintain part quality and dimensional accuracy
- Monitor equipment performance and troubleshoot minor issues
- Maintain proper documentation and production records
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred
- 2 years of experience in cylindrical grinding (ID/OD)
- Strong understanding of machining principles and grinding processes
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T
- Experience with precision measuring instruments
- CNC grinding experience (preferred, if applicable)
