Sky Blue Brokering is a small business helping individuals and families with developmental disabilities in serving multiple counties in the Taconic region area of NYS. We are professional, agile, and innovative.
We are looking for a Direct Support Professional to join our team and provide support to individuals with disabilities in their homes and out in the community. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing assistance with activities of daily living, helping individuals develop and maintain independent living skills, providing help before or after school, assistance with community activities, and providing emotional support. The ideal candidate is someone who has experience and knowledge about children with autism or children with disabilities. The ideal staff can relate to the client and is physically capable of wheelchair transfers. Staff will be expected to take the client shopping, to personal training sessions at the gym, and to recreational activities. Staff will also help the client with reading, communication, money management, self-advocacy, and socialization. Client will need help learning to use common technology (i.e., smartphones). Staff will need to take special care to help the client with their balance. Must have a reliable vehicle to use during the shift.
Responsibilities:
- Assist individuals with daily living activities such as dressing, bathing, community activities, personal goals, and eating.
- Provide transportation to medical appointments, recreational activities, and other outings.
- Monitor individuals’ health and safety.
- Develop and implement individualized service plans.
- Assist individuals in developing and achieving personal goals.
- Maintain records of services provided and progress made by individuals.
- Provide emotional support to individuals in crisis situations.
Hours:
Shifts are Tuesdays and Fridays, 10 am to 2 pm. 8 hours per work total.
Additional shifts may be available depending on staff and client availability.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $32.50 per hour
Expected hours: 8.0 per week
