Skowhegan Savings Bank seeks an individual to join our team as Accounting Clerk. This is a full-time position (37.5-40 hours/week) that sits onsite at our Main Office in Skowhegan, Maine.
We are looking to hire between $19.00 to $22.00 per hour. This position has growth potential up to $25.77 per hour.
Position Summary:
Supports the financial management of the Bank through maintenance of accounting records and reports and performs a variety of basic accounting duties.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides excellent customer service to our external and internal customers utilizing the Integrity Customer Service principles.
- Responsible for maintaining the Accounts Payable (AP) systems, processing invoices weekly and for performing all AP related research as needed.
- Maintains the bank’s corporate credit card program - ensuring all receipts and statements are maintained monthly.
- Preparation/Distribution/Filing Year-End 1099’s.
- Prepares and maintains the bank's Use Tax filings each quarter.
- Assists other bank departments including internal controls with the Abandoned Property process.
- Performs monthly account reconciliations.
- Preparing bank deposits, general ledger postings and statements.
- Proves various in-house accounts daily.
- Responsible for maintaining the financial filing and record retention system.
- Maintains a chart of employee expense, wire transfers and check signing authority.
- Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
- Associate’s degree in accounting and/or 1-2 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Accounts Payable experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Proficiency with MS Windows, Office (Excel & Word).
- Data entry, email, fax, copying, filing and scanning.
- Strong multi-tasking and communication skills.
- Flexibility to take on ad hoc assignments.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient computer skills.

- Moderate lifting (to 35 lbs.) required. Moderate reaching, walking, sitting and standing required.
