What are the responsibilities and job description for the SWP Maintenance Staff position at Skokie Park District?
We are getting ready for summer 2026 and starting our hiring process for maintenance staff at our Skokie Water Playground! This is the perfect summer job for an individual that needs flexibility in their work schedule.

Essential Duties:
- Ensure that all customers of the Skokie Park District have a positive experience when they visit the aquatic facility.
- Use a proactive approach to prevent accidents and reduce hazards and hazardous behaviors.
- Ensure that restroom facilities remain fully stocked and clean. Pick up litter from pool deck and locker room areas. Empty refuse containers as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness of concession and birthday party areas.
- Assist with facility maintenance as assigned.
- Attend required pre-season and in-service training sessions.
- Secure a qualified substitute for any assigned shift when unable to work.
- Ensure that personal time records are accurate and complete.
- Be on site, in uniform, swiped in and ready to work at least 20 minutes before scheduled activities begin. Remain on duty until relieved by supervisor.
- Follow established opening and closing procedures.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with all other Park District staff.
- Remain up to date on all facility rules and Park District policies. Ensure that rules and policies are enforced with tact and flexibility.
- Communicate concerns through proper channels in a positive manner.
- Exercise care in the use of Park District equipment.
- Exhibit a professional image through adherence to Park District Appearance Guidelines.
- Act as a representative of the Park District and as a role model for all employees. Actions must reflect policies and procedures set by the Board of Park Commissioners.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Must be at least 16 years of age and available to work a variable work schedule including some daytime, evening and weekend hours. Previous pool or facility maintenance work experience preferred, but not required. Must be able to obtain and keep current CPR and AED certification.
Hours:
Shifts available seven days per week between the hours of 6:45a.m. and 10:30pm beginning Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend, approximately 20-40 hours/week.
